Canada, Ukraine and Norway have scheduled a conference in Toronto on September 28–29 on returning Ukrainian children, detained civilians and prisoners of war. Canada announced the meeting on September 12. [1]

Objectives awaiting action

Organizers aim to facilitate returns, protect people in captivity and support them after they come home. These objectives are not results already achieved. [1]

Three groups in focus

According to Oslo, State Secretary Eivind Vad Petersson is due to lead the session on civilians. Separate sessions on children and prisoners of war are to be led by the foreign ministers of Canada and Ukraine, respectively. [2]

The Norwegian programme also includes testimony from people who have returned from captivity or deportation. Final commitments remain to be established. [2]
