In Toronto, Anand announces aid for Ukrainian children returning from captivity
The September 28 announcement accompanies a conference scheduled over two days.

Updated September 29 with the September 28 funding announcement; conference objectives remain distinct from results.
Anita Anand announced an additional C$863,000 on September 28 for Ukrainian organizations helping children who have returned from captivity and their families, The Canadian Press reports. [3]
New support announced
The announcement brings Canadian funding for these efforts to C$7 million, The Canadian Press reports; it is not a tally of new releases. [3]
The meeting’s framework
Canada, Ukraine and Norway had announced a Toronto conference on September 28–29 on returning Ukrainian children, detained civilians and prisoners of war. Canada’s September 12 announcement remains the reference for the programme. [1]
Organizers aim to facilitate returns, protect people in captivity and support them after they come home. These objectives are not results already achieved. [1]
Work to follow
The Norwegian programme announced a session on civilians led by Eivind Vad Petersson and separate sessions on children and prisoners of war. That programme alone does not establish the conference’s final commitments. [2]
