New report on the September 29 release. The reference months are July and August 2026.

Canada’s real gross domestic product was essentially unchanged in July 2026, according to Statistics Canada’s September 29 release. Its preliminary estimate for August points to growth of 0.2%. [1]

A monthly slowdown

Reuters reports that the result follows three months of growth and matches expectations. It describes a softer start to the third quarter after the spring expansion. [2]

Different directions

Nova Scotia’s Finance Department highlights a 1.3% increase in construction and a 0.9% decline in manufacturing. Movements across industries therefore partly offset each other. [3]

The next check

The August estimate will be updated on October 30. It remains subject to revision and is not a quarterly result. [1]
