New October 15 report on an October 14 release.

Ottawa announced plans on October 14 to provide up to C$6 million over three years for assessing internationally trained doctors in Manitoba. A final agreement is still required. [1]

A recruitment target

The goal is to have up to 90 family doctors ready to practise by 2028-2029, particularly for rural and remote communities. That is an expected outcome, not an achieved result. [1]

Everyday access to care

CityNews confirms the announcement and interviews women facing difficulties finding a family doctor. One describes waiting nearly three years after her doctor left. [2]

What the accounts establish

These accounts illustrate individual experiences; they do not measure the province’s average wait. The announcement alone also cannot establish that these individuals will face shorter waits. [2]
