October 23 announcement; truce and mission dates distinguished.

The White House announced on October 23 a local Russia–Ukraine agreement brokered by Melania Trump to deliver aid and prepare civilian evacuations from Oleshky. Its statement sets the ceasefire’s start for October 29. [1]

Two dates to distinguish

In a Friday evening update, however, AP reports that Ukrainian negotiator Dmytro Lubinets expects the truce to begin October 27, two days before the mission. It would last several days. [2]

Implementation still ahead

AP also reports that Russia’s military chief announced a halt to fire from October 27. [2]

The agreement’s scope

The announcement provides for voluntary evacuations. It concerns a local operation, with no general ceasefire agreement. [1]
