Carried forward on October 28, 2026. Initial count dated October 26; final count scheduled November 6–10.

CityNews projects a Conservative majority following the October 24 election. Lorne Doerkson is expected to become premier; the projection does not mean he has taken office. [2]

The preliminary count

With the initial count complete, Elections BC lists Conservatives leading in 63 districts, the NDP in 28 and Greens in two. Its October 26 update shows 100% of ballot boxes reported. [1]

Counting still to come

Final counting of mail-in and absentee ballots is scheduled for November 6–10. Results remain preliminary. [1]

The NDP’s response

According to CityNews, David Eby announced his resignation as NDP leader in his concession speech. The party is set to move into opposition. [2]

The party leadership

The Canadian Press reports that party rules bar an interim leader from seeking the permanent leadership. The party board wants Doerkson to remain leader; changing the rules requires support from two-thirds of members. This internal process is separate from forming a government. [3]
